ONE DAY A WEEK SCHOOL

IS OUR SCHOOL FOR YOU?

Does your child struggle to learn, process information, participate in school or social situations? Then 'Believe Education', One Day School, might be just the fit for them.
All too often, children who are unable to follow traditional education and remedial classes are seen as too difficult to teach, hard to engage and even unwilling to understand content and learn. We are dedicated to students who find learning a challenge. We recognise the differences and challenges in students and work with them to bridge this gap. We also acknowledge that such challenges often create emotional and social problems for these students. ‘Believe’ Education is designed to support students as they bridge challenges and prepare for a truly independent life. Our Philosophy is connected with Reuven Feuerstein’s theory that “The human organism is open to modifiability at all ages and stages of development. Change is possible and desirable.”
We have a team of very passionate specialist teachers, and therapists excited to begin this journey with your child.
This programme runs each Tuesday for year 5-7 students (age 9 -12 year olds approx) from 9.30am -2.30pm in Murrays Bay, North Shore, Auckland.

OUR CURRICULUM

The Believe Education One Day programme is a holistic,  'strenghts based' learning programme which includes the implementation of...

● A Metacognitive pedagogy Based on the principle that we need to ‘Learn to think’, we teach an explicit thinking skills programme based on Reuven Feuerstein’s work via Mediated Learning . (Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment) This programme encourages the learner to explicitly think about 'how they think' in a hope that they will learn to monitor and direct their thinking and learning more efficiently to bring about cognitive change. We aim to bridge the principles learnt in these sessions to all other learning through out the day.

● A Social and Emotional skills programme aimed to build confidence, resilience and independence in all Learners regardless of their specific challenges in life.
We help our students to identify their emotions/feelings, ride the wave of that emotion then guide them to regulate their emotions in a positive and healthy way that does not affect themselves or others. We do this via a creative, fun and hands on approach. This is a part of our curriculum which we feel especially passionate about as it is not often taught explicitly in schools.

● A mediated approach to inquiry with the inclusion of the Raven Feuerstein’s 12 Criteria for Mediated Learning embedded throughout the Believe Education inquiry model.

● Art therapy, Drama and gardening classes from a specialist instructor/NZ registered teacher.

Our aim is for all students  to 'BELIEVE' they can achieve!

Our vision:  "Where all learners feel a sense of Belonging."
