BELIEVE EDUCATION

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Jackie Scoggins, to Believe Education. Jackie will work as a teacher in our One Day Programmes.
Hi my name is Jackie Scoggins,
I am a registered New Zealand teacher, trained in both Early Childhood and Primary settings. I am also a Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) Instructor. Over the past ten years, I have taught in Auckland and in Vanuatu. Since 2014 I have had the privilege of working in a learning support role, running programmes specific to literacy and mathematics. I have worked with ORS and ESOL funded students as well. I have been instrumental in facilitating ‘Think to Learn’ problem-solving classes based on the Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment programme and which focuses on identifying potential, in all learners especially those, however, who do not ‘fit the mould’ in traditional education.
I am married to Andrew. We have an eighteen-year-old son who is about to embark on his tertiary education and a twenty-one-year-old daughter who graduated this year from the University of Auckland and is now pursuing her career. My children have had many and varied experiences in the education system, as have I. As a result of this I have always
been drawn to professional development opportunities that seek to provide successful learning outcomes where each child’s special qualities and unique skills are celebrated.
I gain a great deal of energy and personal satisfaction from working with my students and the exciting challenge of working together to discover what makes them tick: their talents, struggles, passions and ambitions. I feel this is the foundation of a great teacher/student relationship and the motivation behind each learners reason to work hard for themselves.
I see myself as an inquisitive, life-long learner who is willing to give new experiences a go and I endeavour to encourage these attitudes in the children I teach. Throughout my time as a teacher I have looked to provide an environment where each learner thrives; a place where they actively participate in their own progress through physical interactions with their surroundings, enjoying the challenge of thorough discussions, and always being supported by making relevant connections between their learning and the world around them.
I see Believe Education providing the rich environment needed for aspiring learners and to also fulfil the personal job satisfaction that I seek as an educator.
