What is Mediated Learning?
12 CRITERIA FOR MEDIATED LEARNING
"Feuerstein has identified 12 criteria, or types of interaction, that are fundamental to mediation. He believes that the first three criteria are necessary and sufficient for an interaction to be considered mediation. The remaining nine criteria may function at different times where and when appropriate and serve to balance and reinforce each other. Mediation is a dynamic and open process and should not be rigidly applied or fixed at just 12 criteria." (Mandia Mentis)
The 12 criteria of mediation and their corresponding symbols are represented below. Once we establish our group of 12 students and consider their individual needs, we then look at specific criteria which we feel needs to be mediated explicitly via our activities. One main point to remember is that this Mediation is fluid and not rigid!
